Welcome to DC. This was started back in 2005 as a way to teach myself PHP while I was working as a sales assistant. Now that I'm a badly paid full time developer I don't really have enough time to work on these sites so I've switched to wordpress.
DC came about due to a discussion between Silent and myself, back when we were working together. I can testify though that no matter how far you remove yourself from retail you can always expect to deal with stupidity.

A customer brings a compact DVD box up to my colleague with the intent of buying it. I go out back to retrieve the DVD player to come back to find the customer asking my colleague whether it plays DVD’s and VHS videos. My colleague calmly explained that being a DVD player it only plays […]
It was early in the morning and this event pretty much set the tome for the rest of the day. A gentleman approaches and begins to explain that he brought a double CD for Christmas. He then began to explain how the second CD wouldn’t work despite trying it in various CD players around his […]
As she approached she was grumbling loudly on the theme of how “absolutely ridiculous” something was. I could tell this was going to be a fun one.
“Don’t you keep any books?!” she barked at me. “Erm… We keep a couple in stock” I replied meekly raising my hands to try and illustrate the fact that […]
