That's at least somewhat understandable. People do expect it to be there. I can empathise with their disappointment if it's not. (Although, it was a little ridiculous of her to return so soon! Do they not appreciate that there is more to a business than what goes on between picking up the item they want and leaving after having paid for it?) They have no idea about what goes on behind the scenes or any kind of compassion.

We've had stock in which has sold out, we've displayed "out of stock" stickers on the display cases and customers have still brought it to the till and argued the toss with me when I tell them that we don't have it. What more do they want? A personalised home telephone call to tell them not to bother leaving the house because we don't have it? Geez!
